INTRODUCTION WHAT IS AN EARTHQUAKE AND WHAT CAUSES IT?
Earthquake is the sudden movement or trembling of the Earth's tectonic plates, resulting in shaking of the ground. This shaking can result in the damage of various structures such as buildings and further breakdown of the Earth's surface.
WHAT ARE THE EFFECTS OF AN EARTHQUAKE?
1) Ground shaking: Surface Waves that are near the Epicenter are responsible for the earthquake. The intensity of ground shaking.
2) Damage to a man-made structure.
3) An outbreak of fire and spilling of hazardous chemicals.
4) Earthquakes lead to other disasters such as Tsunami and Landslides

WHERE DO EARTHQUAKES OCCUR?
An earthquake can occur anywhere on the earth but most of the times it occurs near the tectonic plates that have active faults.
WHAT IS A SEISMOGRAPH?
The seismograph is an instrument that is used to measure and record the details related to earthquakes like force, duration, etc.
WHAT IS AN EARTHQUAKE ZONE?
Earthquake zone is defined as the zone on the earth’s surface around which, the majority of earthquakes occur. It is also known as the seismic zone or the earthquake.
There are a total of 5 earthquake zones in India, and they are:
Zone 5: Highly prone to earthquakes. Punjab, Kashmir, and North-East India.
Zone 4: Parts of Delhi, Jammu, Bihar, and Indo-Gangetic basin.
Zone 3: Moderate damage risk. Western Himalayan plains, Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Zone 2 and 1: Low damage

This project is aimed for designing and development of earthquake alarm detection circuit based on electronic devices which will be helpful to save lives and property.
Main objective is to detect S-waves (seismic waves) or we can say high frequency vibrations at the Arduino uno input through sensor which will give us an indication about earthquake before it strikes at the core of that place.
Another thing is to make a device compact, cheap and error free because earthquake is a very big event as this error may cause very big loss. To make a device error free we have to find a position where the device should be mounted on the building which will sense the best frequency vibrations, and the device should not damage until the building do not fall.
Because the device has done its work it alarmed all the members of building to escape before the building fall over. OBJECTIVE OF OUR PROJECT G. KANTHIMATHII 6
BACKGROUND KNOWLEDGE Today, Earthquake is a very big problem which causes damage to lives and property.
Our project is an small step to save these losses by giving information about earthquake before it strikes, this device will depend on the motion in 3-D.
As the motion in any of the three dimensions occurs LED display will start showing the figures here arduino uno is the central system which can be software tunable.
We can implement signal processing through algorithm where we can define the limits of Motion in 3-D by Checking the data of earthquake from Indian meteorological department, how much magnitude of earthquake is disastrous setting those figures as upper limit in algorithm if figures of motion in any of the three dimensions is greater than the fixed upper limit figure LED light will start to glow and buzzer will start ringing.
This three dimension motion will be detected by the sensor. G. KANTHIMATHII 7
HOW EFFECTIVE OUR PROJECT IS We are going to work on Earthquake detector which is exceptionally useful to the people at the time of the earthquake. Earthquake indicator can identify vibration with the assistance of some sensor and can offer time to the individuals to go from the effective region.
It can be a lifesaver to the network. You can make it effective by following a few steps given. In this project, you will become familiar with the nuts and bolts of simple stick and Arduino.
Earthquake is unavoidable and unpredictable that can harm the lives and property.
We can't fight it yet we can remain alert and careful using development. G. KANTHIMATHII 13
14
PROCEDURE Glue the base using cardboard.
Arrange the wire as design.
Solder switch, buzzer and LED.
All the arrangement is completed put
the switch ON and shake the project. G. KANTHIMATHII 14
15
OBSERVATION When we shake the project LED glows and Buzzer is sound.
This alarms us about the Earthquake. G. KANTHIMATHII 15
16
CONCLUSION Earthquake has been a very often occurring disaster which needs proper alarming devices. Since digital devices available in the market are rather expensive, the technology we offer is comparatively very cheap and easily accessible.
Since it is a light weight device it can be carried along and can be readily used.
This device also ensures information or detection and alarming at the level where only minor shocks occur, the inhabitants can take action accordingly and can inform others and generate awareness among others.
It is more reliable as the circuits used are easily available and because of it small size and lightweight it is mobile which makes using this device a lot easier.
It can be used by anyone and anywhere as the usage of this device is not very technical and can be easily used by anyone anywhere.
The device contains an LED which glows red even when the minor shocks occur and the buzzer can alarm from a distance and even when the residents are sound asle. G. KANTHIMATHII 16
FUTURE SCOPE Help to identify the areas more prone to Earthquake.
Help to build Earthquake resistant buildings in such area.
Multiple annual probability hazard maps for response spectral accelerations and peak ground accelerations with better characterization of site soils, topography, near-field effects. G. KANTHIMATHII 17
