PROJECT PROPONENT 2 OUR REQUEST Grant of Environmental Clearance for a production capacity of 9.00 Million TPA (normative)/13.50 Million TPA (Peak rated) of coal from Pachwara South Coal Mine Project of M/s Neyveli Uttar Pradesh Power Ltd. (NUPPL), is a joint venture of NLC India Ltd. (Govt. of India Enterprise) and Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd. (Government of Uttar Pradesh). Project Background This block is the southernmost part of the Pachwara Coalfield in Dumka District, Jharkhand. Pachwara-Chirudih Sector lies in the western part of Pachwara basin. The east-central, central and north-western part of the block is characterized by three villages, namely Chirudih, Kundapahari and Mahuldabar respectively. Location and Accessibility KML The drainage pattern of the region is dendritic. In the core zone, which is gently undulating in nature, there is Bansloi, the main surface run-off, which is flowing in the central part of the area from west to east along with a few ephemeral streamlets descending from the catchment area of the Bansloi River, forms the drainage system of the area. Apart from Bansloi river, there are few river and nallas in the 10 km radius of the study area. Drainage System map of the Study Area Long term meteorological data was collected from the nearest IMD station, Dumka, District Statistical Department, Office of the Dy. Director of Agriculture & field observation. The area experiences hot & sub-humid tropical climate. During summers, the mercury rises well above 420 C. Winter in the region marks the mercury dropping to about 70 C. As for the direction of the wind, it mostly blows from the west;
