vocabulary

Frame of reference-A system of projects that are not moving with respect to one another.

Relative motion-Movement in relation to a frame of reference .Distance- The length of the path between two points.

Vector-A quantity that has a direction associated with it.Resultant vector- The vector sum of two or more vectors.

Speed- The ratio of the distance an object moves to the amount of time the object moves.Average speed-The total distance traveled divided by the time it takes to travel that distance.

Instantaneous speed- The rate of which an object is moving at a given moment in distance.Velocity- The speed and direction an object is moving, measured relative to a reference point.

Acceleration-The rate at which the velocity changes. free fall- The movement of an object towards earth because of gravity.Constant acceleration- A steady change in velocity.

Linear graph- A graph in which the displayed data forms a straight line.

Nonlinear graph- A graph in which the displayed data forms a curved line.Slide3

Vocabulary

Direction-

A course along which someone or something moves.Changing- Make

or become different.Progress- Forward

or onward movement toward a destination.Move- Go

in a specified direction or manner; change position.Advance- Move

forward, typically in a purposeful way.Travel- Make

a journey, typically of some length or abroad.Slide4

25 key pieces of information

Motion is the action or process of moving or being moved.

The greater the force acting on an object, the ore it will accelerate.Motion makes the world go ‘round’ motion makes the moon go round too.

Velocity is the rate of motion in a specific direction. The motion of a moving object can be explained using either newton’s law.

The same concepts and principles used to describe and explain the motion of an object can be used to describe and explain the parabolic motion of a projectile.Circular motion at a constant speed is one of many forms of circular motion.

Circular motion is the motion of an object in a circle with a constant or uniform speed.Motion is described in terms of displacement, time, velocity, and acceleration.

The case of motion in one dimension is a good starting point for the description of motion..Motion is the action of changing location or position.

The study of motion without regard to the forces or energies that may be involved is called kinematics.

Motion may be divided into three basic types translational, rotational, and oscillatory.Slide5

25 key pieces of information

Some motion is predictable in theory but unpredictable in practice, which makes it appear random.

Motion is the movement in any direction. You can move up, down, forwards, backwards, and sideways.

When you pluck the string of a guitar, the strings vibrate moving quickly back and forth. That is a type of motion. When water flows off a cliff, it creates a water fall. That is a type of motion.

When you throw a football into the air, it curves up…and then down again. That is a type of motion.Of course this don’t just move by themselves. An object must be pushed or pulled to get into motion.

Motion is defined as to signal with a movement. The definition of a motion is a movement or a proposal for action.

The act or process of moving passage of a body from one place to another movementT

he act of moving the body or any of its parts

A

meaningful movement of the hand, eyes, and gestureMotion is the ability to moveSlide6

Examples of motion

If a person is running they are demonstrating motion.

When a rocket takes off it’s a type of motion.

A car that is moving fast or slow is motion

The boat is rocking back and forth which causes motion.Slide7

Examples of motion

When the ball on one end of the cradle hits the ball in front of it, It causes the rest of the balls to move and cause motion.

As the person peddles it makes the bike move which is motion.

when you get ready to bat you use motion when you swing your arm.
