The organization National Ecological Centre of Ukraine (NECU) is a non - governmental not - for - profit organization created in 1991 when Ukraine has obtained independence. NECU consolidates individuals for common action to protect the environment. Among NECU members are scient ists, journalists, artists, students and other people who are willing to add their own effort to environmental protection. The organization has branches in a dozen of Ukrainian cities.NECU is a member of CEE Bankwatch Network, NGO Working Group on climate change, Ukrainian River Network, IUCN, Climate Action Network International. NECU is working in such major directions: Biodiversity, Energy, Global climate change, Transport, Multilateral Development Banks. In Russia, Caucasus and Central Asia NECU cooper ates with NGOs in, sharing its experience of working with development banks and on Climate Change issues. NECU monitors the projects connected to oil and gas extraction and transportation from the Caspian Region. The representative Iryna Stavchuk is the he ad of Climate change department of NECU and coordinates all the research and policy work on climate change in NECU. Since 2008 she also serves as a co - coordinator of the Climate Action Network node in Eastern Europe, Cauc asus and Central Asia. She received a Specialist Degree in Kyiv Politechnical Institute and then got a Master Degree in environmental management and policy from Lund University in Sweden. Goals as an Observer NECU goals as observer are (1) contribute to the discussion of the CIF policies ba sed on NECU's experi e nce in monitoring MBSs projects in Ukraine and EECCA and (2) engage more CSOs from the region in monitoring of the projects and provision of the comments.
