GREATER SUDBURY POLICE SERVICE Invites applications for SUMMER STUDENT POSITIONS 40 Hours Per Week For 8 weeks starting July $14 per hour The Youth in Policing Initiative (YIPI) is an employment program for youth 15-18 years of age. The goal of the YIPI program is to give young people an opportunity to develop skills while enhancing police and community relations. Below are the lists of available summer student positions under this program including essential qualifications for each position.  Community Mobilization Unit: This Unit conducts safety and awareness programs for all ages. These programs are designed to encourage involvement and participation in effective and safe crime prevention methods.  Criminal Investigation Division: This Unit investigates after major crimes. Members in this Unit are both Sworn and Civilian (i.e. Sergeants, Staff Sergeants, Detective Constables and Civilian Members.)  Human Resources: The Unit coordinates recruitment (Police/Civilian/Auxiliary), health and safety, disability management, Sworn promotional process, internal Civilian vacancies, pay equity, onboarding and exit, compensation and benefits, performance management.  Integrated Operations: This Unit provides support for all operational areas of the Service and safely handles all major high risk incidents, while continuing to provide an enforcement presence on area highways, lakes, and trails.  Records & Customer Service: This Unit is responsible for providing customer service and ensuring the maintenance of data for the Greater Sudbury Police Service records management system. Services provided by Central Records include; live-scan fingerprinting, criminal records searches, report requests, pardon applications, file closures, and freedom of information requests.  Technical Support: This Unit is responsible for providing technical clerical support with preparing court audio and video tapes for brief preparation. They also provide electronic expertise and technical support to the Greater Sudbury Police Service.  Traffic Management Unit: This Unit looks after marine, all-terrain, snowmobile and motorcycle patrols with assigned specialty vehicles.  Police Community Response Centre: This Unit is responsible for responding to calls for service which includes investigating low priority walk-in complaints and telephone complaints, and low priority Coplogic complaints. This Unit consists of both sworn and civilian members. Qualifications:  Must be a student between the ages of 15 and 18 years;  Must not have any criminal charges pending before the court;  Must be legally eligible to work in Canada;  Must be attending school.
