The retrieval service was grounded and I had to manage the patient until a road crew could arrive. She was in shock requiring fluids / blood transfusion. The bleeding continued despite removal of clots, oxytocin, prostaglandins and tranexamic acid and was only controlled after I applied bimanual pressure, a trick I had learned at the EMET course. .
