Melody

Weather it’s created vocally or instrumentally, all melodies are first a product of improvisation, one of our core values.

And…. No. 1 of the National Core Arts Standards Slide8

Hints and Tips

Start with your title and or chorus’ main idea. Sing/play that motive until you are satisfied with it.

Build your phrases from extending this thought.

Create your verse to lead into and support your chorus. Verses are typically in a lower range than the chorus.

Don’t fear repetition.

“Try writing a chorus for your chorus.” Paul

Baloche

Look closely at your chord progression. Use a different starting chord for the differing section.

Evaluate, refine, and document revisions to personal music, applying teacher-provided and collaboratively-developed criteria and feedback to show improvement over time. Slide9
