The Lyceum

Year opened: 1897

Interesting fact: The Sheffield Lyceum is the only remaining theatre outside of London designed by W.G.R Sprague, as well as being the last Edwardian auditorium in Sheffield.

Mulberry tavern

Opened: 1920’s (exact year not known)

Interesting fact: This site has been recognized as a pub going all the way back to 1847, which would rank it amongst the oldest in the city, the original building was knocked down and replaced with it’s current incarnation in the 1920’s

Sheffield corporation

Year opened: 1997

Interesting fact: Corporation is perhaps just as famous for it’s cheap,

colourful

pints as it is for the gigs it hosts, the venue is open as a nightlife place every night from 11pm onwards, or as a music venue from around 6:30pm, depending on show times.

Capacity: Up to 900 (depending on which stage)

What you can expect: Live bands for the first part, then wild, crazy club nights following on.

Interesting fact: This year the crucible is celebrating its 40

anniversary as the official venue for the World Snooker Championship tournament.

What you can expect: Cheap booze, local bands playing a wide mix of music, ranging from rock, to hip-hop and even rap, West Street Live is a

favourite

amongst students for this reason.

Interesting fact: Many superstars of the music industry played here on their way to the top, the list includes Ed

Capacity: 2.350 (big room) 500 (small room)

What you can expect: Music, sport and comedy events, the small room is often hired out to local bands who want to put on a big show, in the big room expect huge artists and bands performing often sell-out shows.
