incorporates puppet making,

script writing, directing

, filming and editing using software.

To encourage the values of teamwork, shared responsibilities, respecting and accepting each others’ opinions, and collaboration in completing the tasks at each phase.

To encourage students to have confidence to speak in English with the help of technology and arts.

To promote independent learning in researching and making decisions.

To instil pride in students’ own project.Slide3

LESSON PLANS

The project is held during every week’s SAL (Self-accessed Learning) period.

The lesson plans for each lesson is not fixed, but rather depends on students’ pace.

However, the lesson plans devised are following the phases that need to be go through by students according to the project outline.Slide4

PROJECT OUTLINE

PHASE 1 – MAKING SCRIPTS

Students are put into groups of three to four.

Each group draw lots on the vocabulary they will need to explain based on the current curriculum specification.

Students refer the precise meaning of their chosen vocabulary using dictionary.

Students discuss to make a script for their videos.

Teacher consult students and helps editing their scripts.

PHASE 2 – MAKING PUPPETS

Teacher makes a demonstration on making puppets.

Students make puppets on their own, based on the needs of their scripts.

Students may also use the time in this phase for their necessary props.Slide8

PHASE 3 – FILMING

Students start filming using camera.

Teacher only supervise their pronunciation.

Students elect their own actors and director.

Students make use of the school compounds as their filming sets.Slide10

PHASE 4 – VIDEO EDITINGStudents edit their videos using Windows Movie Maker and/or

Wondershare

Students make use of the school facility, computer lab for the purpose.

Students explore the editing software themselves, as well as deciding their video outcomes between the group members.Slide12

PHASE 5 – SCREENING & PRESENTATION

Students ready to show their videos to other students/teachers/public.

Video screening:

Other students and teachers are invited to the video screening to vote for the best video. (30%)

Videos are also posted on YouTube for public votes. (20%)

English teachers are the professional judges. (50%)

Individual presentation:

Each students also have to give a 1-2 minutes speech of their experience during project.

Judged by the English teachers.Slide16

PHASE 6 – AWARD CEREMONY & FEEDBACK

Winners are chosen and each group is awarded with certificate of participation.

The best speaker for individual presentation is chosen and awarded.

Teacher gives feedback on each group’s achievement as well as individual development over the project.Slide17

**NOTESThis is still an

ongoing

project done by a class of form 4 students in SMK

Landas, Hulu Terengganu.

Currently (July 2016), the students are just going into the editing process and the screening phase is expected to take place somewhere in September. The phase however was delayed due to the logistic and technical issues.Slide18
