Causes of poor mental health

Individual:

e.g. low IQ or disability

Family:

parental conflict / abuse / neglect / poor attachments

Community factors

e.g.  Social deprivation, religious factors

School factors:

exam stress / testing, school culture, bullying

The causes of mental ill health are multifaceted and complex

Multiple factors may exist e.g.

minority stress

and social deprivation
