Topics in this course include using time effectively, calendars and schedules, notetaking, and test taking strategies. IACT C010 Financial Literacy(0.6 CEUs) IACT 0 Students in this course are introduced to the personal, social, and professional skills required to be successful in today’s workforce. This course also includes job preparation and search strategies to help enter, or reenter, employment and includes a Mock Interview activity. Course specific topics may include: Job Preparation Strategies, Professionalism for the Workplace, IACT 060 Writing for Workplace Success(1 credit Students in this course are given an introduction to a variety of documents commonly used in the workplace. Course emphasis is on planning, organizing, and writing effective workplace and technical documents using effective writing skills. Specific types of documents may include, but IACT 070 Basic Computer Operation and Applications(1 credit Students in this course will learn the basic of operation of the Microsoft Windows operating system (OS) and Microsoft Office Suite. This course also covers PC history, hardware, software, internet, email, and general computer operating concepts. The student will receive hands on exp IACT 100 OSHA 10Hour General Industry(1 credit The course provides training for entrylevelworkers and employers on the recognition, avoidance, abatement, and prevention of safety and health hazards in workplaces in general industry. #x0000;�2 of IACT 110 Basic Math for Manufacturing(1 credit Students in this course will learn to perform foundational math operations in the context of a manufacturing environment. Students will apply knowledge of positive and negative numbers, whole numbers and their functions, mixed numbers and their functions, fractions, decimals and percentages and measurement in a work place setting. This course also includes exposure to measuring instruments and other implements, such as a tape measure, caliper, micrometer, and gage blocks. IACT 120 Lockout Tagout(0.12 credit Students in this course will learn the definition of lockout/tagout (LOTO), when it is required, and common procedures to execute. This course also includes correct communication steps to take to ensure the safety of yourself and others around you when performing a LOTO activity. IACT 130 Lifting and Tool Safety(0.12 credit) This course will be an interactive exercise and common sense approach to ergonomics, in the context of tool safety in an applied setting. Participants will learn about two aspects of ergonomics: human factors and mechanical factors. The human factors refer to the design of equipment and the job site itself.The most common workplace injuries to various parts of the body will be reviewed and handson exercises to demonstrate proper applied techniques will be emphasized. IACT 141 Applied imulation in Advanced Manufacturing(2.5 credits) Students in this course are exposed to advanced manufacturing concepts in lean, quality, and continuous improvement methodology. This course includes an interactive lab component where students work in teams to apply knowledge of advanced manufacturing theory on a production line, collect production and quality data, and implement production line improvements by applying lean and continuous improvement knowledge.
