2. HB 1041What is sexual abuse?Any sexual act between an adult and a minorORbetween two minors when one has “POWER” over the otherORwhen one is three years older than the other. A minor is ANYONE UNDER THE AGE OF 18.

3. HB 1041Other forms of sexual assault/sexual abuse include:Forcing, coercing or persuading a child to engage in Any type of sex act.AND / ORIndirect or Non-contactAND/ OR Communicating in a sexual manner (in person OR electronically)

HB 1041Noncontact sexual abuse offenses include:Solicitation of child pornographyAsking someone under the age of 18 to send you naked or partially dressed photos of themselvesTransmission of child pornographySending someone naked or partially dressed photos of yourself if you are under the age of 18Possession of child pornographyHaving naked or partially dressed photos of someone under the age of 18 on your cell phone

HB 1041More facts on the Impact of Sexual Abuse:70% to 80% of sexual abuse survivors report excessive drug and/or alcohol abuseYoung girls who are sexually abused are more likely to develop eating disorders as adolescentsMales and females who have been sexually abused are more likely to engage in prostitutionAmong male survivors, 50% have suicidal thoughts and more than 20% attempt suicide

17. HB 1041False Reporting: ….What? Yes, it does happen. ***Falsely reporting sexual abuse (or any alleged crime) is a criminal offense! ***You can be punished for making up a claim of abuse or lying about the details to the investigators!
