Our Narrative

The world faces a choice to defeat AIDS, TB and Malaria. This choice is possible because of advances in

delivery, science,

data

, but will not be around forever. The

U.S. must lead

the world down the right path.Slide6

Delivery

The opportunity to defeat HIV/AIDS, TB, and malaria is the result of a rapid expansion of life-saving health services to the people who need them most.Slide7

Delivery

In Africa, only about 50,000 people were on antiretroviral therapy (ART) to treat HIV/AIDS in 2000. Last year, over 7.5 million people in Africa were on treatment. Slide8

Delivery

Deaths from TB have declined 40 percent since 1990.Slide9

Delivery

Households with an insecticide-treated bed net to protect them from mosquitoes carrying malaria increased from 3 percent in 2000 to 53 percent.Slide10

Science

AIDS treatment reduces the risk of transmission by 96 percent.Slide11

Science

GeneXpert provides a drug-sensitive diagnosis for TB in under 2 hours.Slide12

Data

Better allocating current resources to “hot spots” could increase our impact on the AIDS epidemic by 20 percent. Slide13
