How Does Your Media Product Represent Particular Social Groups?Slide2

Images.

The images I used in my magazine represent the social group that my target audience fall into.

The image of the boy represents what kind of boys my target audience may be interested in, and as he is the same age he fitted well with the type of person I wanted as a model. Also, the way the boy is dressed is a very popular style at the minute and very fashionable. He is posed in a serious way with a serious face on because, as my target audience is teenage girls, it doesn’t really matter whether his personality shows through in the images as the females will care mainly about how he looks. Slide3

My female model represents my target audience really well. She is a female, in her teens, who appears to be fun and friendly; what most females of this age would like to see in themselves. She has a distinct style, which I based on Sandy at the end of Grease. This vintage look is very popular at the minute and so I thought it would fit in great in my magazine. She has a cheeky look on her face as it is important to make a female model appear friendly

otherwise

my audience may take a disliking to her before they have even read properly into the magazine. Slide4

Language.

The language I used in my magazine is very positive, informal and personal. I used a gossipy tone to portray that the magazine is having a gossipy chat with the reader. I included the words “teen star” on the front cover to make the star relatable to the reader, as they will also be teens and so it represents them in that way. I wanted the language I used to represent a teenage girl talking herself.
