INSTRUCTIONS This powerpoint presentation replaces the old Poster and must not exceed 20 slides
Write in the past tense and in the third person.
Do not type long sentences or copy/paste from your project report. This is a SUMMARY of your project report.
You can add a few compressed images/pictures or else your file will be too large but do not exceed 20 slides.
Font: Use Gill San MT with font size 28
Do not add References to this presentation but include “Acknowledgements”
The instructions in each slide are guidelines. A slide can have more than one heading etc.
Once you are done with the slides, delete this slide as well as the guidelines given in each slide
You can add a voice over to this powerpoint to explain the slides. Do not read the slides
Remember to Name your file with your Prov_Region_Your Name and Surname_ppt e.g. FS_Bethlehem Region_John Zwane_ppt
Project Title LEARNER Name/S: school:
grade: category:
03
INTRODUCTION andBackground Research Introduce the main concepts related to the research
Give a summary of what is known about the research project – information from books, peer reviewed articles etc.
What does the literature say?
Highlight the gap/s you are trying to fill
04
Problem Statement Based on your knowledge/background research, what is the problem/ issue you are trying to address or need you are trying to fulfil?
05
Aim Clearly state the aim of the research in maximum 2 sentences.
The aim must be linked to the problem statement. The aim/s of this research project is/are ……
Is it your aim to also address a need? (Engineering projects) Research question
State the Research Question that guides your research
06
Hypothesis / engineering goal A hypothesis is a testable prediction about the outcome/results of your project. Include the variables in your Hypothesis statement.
Engineering projects will have Engineering Goals
07
Variables/Design Criteria List the variables or Design Criteria or codes
List the fixed; independent; and dependent variables
08
Method/PROCEDURE List the materials used and quantities thereof with correct units
Give a brief description of the procedure/ data collection methods you used to obtain results
Did your research involve sampling? How was sampling done?
09
Results Summarise the averages, standard errors, ranges of your results, with emphasis on the trends or changes in trends over time/ Describe the themes that emerged from the data
Represent data in a graph or a table. A table should be able to stand alone and make sense to a reader. Graphs and Tables must be clearly labelled and legible with standard units
Analyse the results. Are there patterns/trends/outliers in the data?
10
Discussion Interpret and discuss the patterns identified in the results.
Explain what the patterns mean (why you got the results you did)
Compare your results and interpretations to those found in other studies. How are they similar/different? Why might there be differences between your research and others?
Highlight the significance of your results in relation to the problem you identified.
11
Limitations and Errors Briefly describe any errors in your testing/sampling/design that may have influenced your overall results.
What were the limiting factors/how was your research limited?
12
Recommendations for Future Research Make concrete suggestions about how this project could be extended.
What’s next? What further research can be done?
13
Conclusion Indicate whether or not the data supports your hypothesis
Mention the key findings
What conclusion/s did you arrive at?
14
Acknowledgements Any person/organisation that made a direct contribution to the study should be acknowledged.
15
Pictures Pictures of equipment such as your laboratory apparatus or your prototype or your specimens or procedures can be included
Every picture or image must have a caption and the source of the image e.g. the url for the image or person who took the photograph
