Casualty Evacuation Simulation in Force-on-Force Training
INTENT: Casualty evacuation (CASEVAC) is the duty of the Assistant Patrol Leader (APL), assigned Medic, and Observer-Controller (OC). Yet, any leader may direct the process.
SYNOPSIS: All Warriors are issued a laminated casualty card. Triage of Warrior casualties is conducted solely by the Medic at the Casualty Collection Point (CCP) and will result in 1/3 of Warrior casualties, on average, being returned to battle as instant RESPAWN.
03
INSTRUCTION TO CASUALTIES: If you become a causality, MILES flatline or safety kill, promptly sit down. Report your status by voice or radio as, “I’m hit.” Report nothing else!
Daytime: REMOVE YOUR HEADGEAR.
Nighttime: TURN ON YOUR RED LIGHT.
Wait in place for 5 minutes, or until rescued by other Warriors.
If you are not rescued within 5 minutes, you are DEAD. Move to the CCP.
INSTRUCTION TO WARRIORS: You have a 1-in-3 chance to get your wounded comrade back into the fight, if you rescue your comrade within 5 minutes!
Defeat the enemy threat, first! Then return to your wounded comrade.
Grab the casualty to “move” him to the CCP. SAFETY: DO NOT CARRY.
You RETURN IMMEDIATELY to the fight! Do not wait for the casualty.
04
INSTRUCTIONS TO APL: Protect your Medic! No Medic means all casualties are DEAD.
In defense, designate the CCP location in the OPORD. In offense, improvise.
Direct the movement of casualties back to the CCP.
Direct all instant RESPAWN casualties back into the fight.
Call in a 9-Line Report to higher command for CASEVAC and DEAD.
INSTRUCTIONS TO OC: Conduct instant RESPAWN at the CCP as prompted by the Medic. By default, Warrior casualties are DEAD if:
No Medic remains alive in the CCP.
The Warrior casualty has no casualty card.
The Warrior casualty is not “moved” to the CCP within 5 minutes.
The CCP is overrun by enemy. The CCP cannot be moved during a fight.
05
INSTRUCTIONS TO MEDICS: One Medic can be assigned to each rifle squad. Any Warrior can rescue a casualty, but ONLY the Medic can triage to get 1-in-3 casualties immediately back into the fight. This booklet is your medical kit!
Conduct triage at the designated CCP: AM = Red, PM = Gold, Night = Blue.
When “moved” to the CCP; match casualty card to table below.
Alert OC of instant RESPAWN, and APL of casualties for CASEVAC.
