F2 children are grouped together and KS1 children are grouped together according to abilities
. The children are assessed every 8
weeks
and move groups accordingly. Slide4
Initially new sounds are taught and the children then learn to use these sounds to read and write words.
Children then progress onto reading ‘ditty’ books using the sounds they have learnt and then writing sentences.

Y1 Phonics Screen
In KS1 Read, Write Inc. starts at 9 o’clock.
Fast pace (1 new sound a day), so regular attendance is crucial. Please practise phonic sounds at home.
