To sell their product or products. July . 2011. TV and the PVR. Technology which allows viewers to record and playback television has always had the potential to effect television advertising. The VCR, DVD Recorder and now the PVR enable viewers to fast forward or skip commercials when playing back recorded programming. The main target audience for the hit show Pretty Little Liars is women aged 12-34, although before the show aired it was targeted to women 35-49. Its main target group being 12-34 aged women is because of the dramatics and terror of girls in a high school setting that every girls loves, but women are not the only ones. Certain men also enjoy the show because of the mystery and terror of the show. Overall, they all love the fact that its between multiple characters instead of just 1 main character. There are a few types of commercials that would be aired. The first type would be other shows that are on ABC because that’s where the show is aired and they would also want to promote their other shows. The largest target audience is teenage girls to middle aged women, so they would air commercials that teens love. For example, anything for clothes at hip new stores, women's deodorant, victoria secret, Etc. . What makes a great commercial?. I tried to find commercials that are not currently on the air.
