English 1013.SI Supplemental Instruction with the Write Site
Glad you asked! In addition attending class for instruction, you get to participate in small-group workshops with an SI instructor from the writing center. So… what is supplemental instruction with the Write Site? Each session is based on the course’s major assignments. The workshops are designed to enhance (not replace!) your classroom experience.
In a word, NO. The Write Site is an awesome place, but Supplemental Instruction is a one-hour workshop with different goals and a different structure. Supplemental Instruction is required for 1013S classes, but Write Site appointments are not. So, is a Write Site appointment the same as a supplemental instruction appointment?

Can’t I just wait and go to three workshops at the end of the semester? Nope. Because each workshop is tailored to a specific assignment, you must visit once per assignment, for a total of three workshops a semester.
And… if I don’t go to an SI workshop? What happens then? Also… did you read this sentence in your syllabus? “Each workshop must match the assignment and if it is not completed on time, a 10-percentage-point penalty will be assessed to the final course grade.”If you don’t go, then you’ll miss out on all of the awesome things you could have learned.
