2. The first set of data has been collected by a supermarket. It has been collected automatically by the checkout computer system. The data is about customers who have loyalty cards and was collected over a limited period of time. The supermarket estimates that about 90% of its customers have a card. The data is in the file called Supermarket_data.The data contains:Customer NumberDateTimeAmount SpentGenderSelf CheckoutMinutes to ProcessScenario – Supermarket Data

3. Scenario – Holiday DataThe second set of data is for the holiday company. The data has been collected from various sources: the company’s booking system database, the electoral roll, and a specialist survey company who contacted the customers via an email survey. The company has calculated that only 50% of the customers who were contacted responded to the survey. The data is in the file called Holiday_data.The data contains:The ratings are on a scale of 1 to 10, one being the lowest 10 being the highest.Customer emailAccommodation RatingDate of SurveyBooking Process RatingGenderTransportHoliday DateTransport RatingHoliday Duration (days)Recommend to FriendHoliday TypePrice Paid

4. Heading : The Characteristics of Data and InformationData typeColumn Number from the secondary DataWhat does it show? AndWhy do we need to collect this type of data?local-part@domainShort date format DD/MM/YYYYsingle letter format/short textNumerical DataDecimal places TextBritish pounds/sterling to 2 decimalsDecimal places

5. Heading : How has the data been collected (Supermarket )State how the data has been collected? E.g automatically by the checkout computer system. It is primary data because it is collected directly by the company Is there any issue with how the data has been collected i.e. people with no loyalty card has not been recorded – how reliable is the method? Data has been collected over limited period of time – what is problem with this? What are the pros and cons of collecting data this way?Is the data sensitive i.e. personal to the customer if so what do I need to tell the customer – YesDoes it matter how much data I have, compare with the data I don't have? i.e 90% of its customer have loyalty card, but not all customer visited the store on the time of collection, so small sample data)Has the data been crossed ref with any other data to check that the data collected is accurate? ( only one method of data collection used bt supermarket!)

6. Heading : How has the data been collected (Holiday data )State how the data has been collected – various sources - the company’s booking system database, the electoral roll, and a specialist survey company who contacted the customers via an email surveyIt is big data – Primary data (the company’s booking system database) and secondary data (electoral roll, and a specialist survey company who contacted the customers via an email survey)What are the pros and cons of collecting data this way?Is there any issue with how the data has been collected i.e.– how reliable is the method? Is the data sensitive i.e. personal to the customer if so what do I need to tell the customer – YesDoes it matter how much data I have, compare with the data I don't have?Has the data been crossed ref with any other data to check that the data collected is accurate?

7. Heading : How has the data been collected Holiday data: the company’s booking system database Pros – the data is accurate and up to date at the point of collectionThe data is not sensitive so no need to contact customer to let them know that their data is being collected for data privacy GDPRData can be cross referenced with other methods because there are other way of data collection usedCons – System could malfunction at the time of collection and data would have not be easy to be collectedNot all their customer booked holiday on the time of collection for the company to get the data, the sample data is small in this collection methodHoliday data: Electoral roll Pros – Big data so many data can be collected at once. The information collected will be accurate, because it is government collection and people must be honestData can be cross referenced with other methods because there are other way of data collection usedCons – The information might not be up to date because the electoral roll register is updated annually.

8. Heading : How has the data been collected Holiday data: specialist survey company who contacted the customers via an email survey)Pros – Big data so many data can be collected at once Data can be cross referenced with other methods because there are other way of data collection usedCons – Data may not be accurate as customer might not be honest in giving out answersData might not be up to date as is not known when the data were collectedOnly 50% replied, so not all their customer replied to the customer survey for the company to get all customers information

9. Title : Data Collection methods and features used (How data was collected)

10. Title : Data Collection methods and features used (How data was collected)

11. Heading : The quality of data collected by each companyHoliday Data Mixture of primary and secondary – what are the pros and cons of how this might have been collected. Why would you have data collection by a company? Are there issues/limitations with this? Is this cost effective? Explain each collection method - (Primary (the company’s booking system database) and secondary data (electoral roll, and a specialist survey company who contacted the customers via an email survey)50% of people responded to the question – what do we think about this, is it a good sample size? Why would you crossed Reference data, how will this help? How many time do I need to cross Ref data in order to increase its accuracy? Supermarkets Data:Computer/Digital data, no humans have been involved. Are there any cons to this? It is just primary (automatically by the checkout computer system.), what's are the issue with this? – eg. haven't crossed Ref this with any other data, I don’t have customer name or address on the data, which means no patterns can be picked up quickly.Using examples from the data show thisWhat are the general issues with this section of the dataHow has the Data collected been used to make decisions

12. Validation methodsHoliday data: how does the columns shows that validation might have been used? Give examples – Company used validation method of type check to make sure the customer entered the data correctlySupermarket data: - how does the columns shows that validation might have been used? Give examplesVerification methods - Ensures that inputs is checked more that once. Example passwordsHoliday data: does this method presented? Give examples Eg. There is no evidence of this verification method in holiday dataSupermarket data: does this method presented? Give examplesTuesday, 10 November 2020Heading: How reliable are the methods of collection that were useduse screen shots from the data

13. Heading : How the data might be of use to the companySupermarket – use screen shots from the data, when referring to the data, edit, sort data if neededSales figures, trends, target products to the right customer, busy times, staffing numbers ( ref to the bust times), average price of purchase of sale.3/4Examples needed I.e. In column 4 it shows the amount a customer spent, this could be average out to show to average a customer spends, cross ref this with the time of day, will also show busy times, for large purchases. Holiday – use screen shots from the data, when referring to the data, edit, sort data if neededQuality of the holiday in different sections, targets products, average spend, Max and min spend, customer email contact , commons forms of transport taken – targeting customer on promotional offers, transport updates, affordability.

14. Supermarket DataHow has the company gone about collecting the data – quality of equipment How much data do I have, is it too much, its enough, do I need to cross ref the data with other time of the day or years gone past. External factors such as weather, time of day, competition, traffic , road works, parking, time of yearData is not very detailed, and not from any location

17. Heading: Suggestion on ways that data collection might be improvedSupermarketUsers detail, location of data collection, any vouchers used, different data times of times of collection Holiday Example of what the rag rating meant i.e. what a 4 is?, company names, company transport names, numbers in groups, location of holiday, what section of the data have been collected and how? Ie how has the email address been collected, has this cross ref and with what?Dates of collection of the types of data ie when was the survey carried out, when was the email address collected?
