UNCHANGING GOD WHO CHANGES EVERYTHING

1Slide2

IMMUATABILITY, UNCHANGING NATURE OF GOD

Session 1

2Slide3

If God is perfect….

1. Perfection cannot be made better, cannot be changed.

God is perfect. Therefore, God does not change.

3Slide4

SCRIPTURAL BASIS for the IMMUTABILITY of GOD:

4Slide5

Numbers 23:19-20(NIV)

19

God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a son of man, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?

20

I have received a command to bless; he has blessed, and I cannot change it.

5Slide6

1 Samuel 15:28-29(NIV)

28

Samuel said to him, “The LORD has torn the kingdom of Israel from you today and has given it to one of your neighbors—to one better than you.

29

He who is the Glory of Israel does not lie or change his mind; for he is not a man, that he should change his mind.”

6Slide7

Psalms 33:11(NIV)

11

But the plans of the LORD stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations.

7Slide8

Psalms 119:89-91(NIV)

89

Your word, O LORD, is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens. 90

Your faithfulness continues through all generations; you established the earth, and it endures.

91

Your laws endure to this day, for all things serve you.

8Slide9

Psalms 147:5(NIV)

5

Great is our Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit.

9Slide10

Proverbs 19:21(NIV)

21

Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the LORD’S purpose that prevails.

10Slide11

Ecclesiastes 3:14(NIV)

14

I know that everything God does will endure forever; nothing can be added to it and nothing taken from it. God does it so that men will revere him.

11Slide12

Isaiah 40:28(NIV)

28

Do you not know? Have you not heard?

The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth.

He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.

12Slide13

Malachi 3:6(NIV)

6

I the LORD do not change. So you, O descendants of Jacob, are not destroyed.

13Slide14

Romans 11:33-36(NIV)

33 Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and

£

knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out!

34

“Who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been his counselor?”

£

35

“Who has ever given to God, that God should repay him?”

£

36

For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be the glory forever! Amen.

14Slide15

Hebrews 6:16-19(NIV)

16

Men swear by someone greater than themselves, and the oath confirms what is said and puts an end to all argument.

17

Because God wanted to make the unchanging nature of his purpose very clear to the heirs of what was promised, he confirmed it with an oath.

18

God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope offered to us may be greatly encouraged.

19

We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain....

15Slide16

James 1:16-18(NIV)

16

Don’t be deceived, my dear brothers.

17

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.

18

He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind

of

first fruits

of all he created.

16Slide17

Hebrews 1:12(NIV)

12

You will roll them up like a robe; like a garment they will be changed. But you remain the same, and your years will never end.

17Slide18

Hebrews 7:20-21(NIV)

20

And it was not without an oath! Others became priests without any oath,

21

but he became a priest with an oath when God said to him: “The Lord has sworn and will not change his mind: ‘You are a priest forever.’”

18Slide19
