There are many different types of figurative language, such as simile, metaphor, onomatopoeia, alliteration, personification, idiom, pun, and hyperbole.. metaphor. A figure of speech is a specific device or kind of figurative language, such as hyperbole, metaphor, personification, simile, or understatement.. The Woman in Black. .
