The first commercially available digital camera was the 1990 Dycam

Model 1 (Logitech Fotoman).

It used a CCD image sensor, stored pictures digitally, and connected directly to a computer for download.

How it works

Takes video or still photographs, usually both, by recording images using an electronic image sensor. Most usually capable of capturing color video or stills.Uses a lens with a variable diaphragm that focuses light onto an image, admits the correct amount of light through a shutter and digitally saves the image to the cameras memory device.

Many digital cameras now include wireless communication capabilities, such as

Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, that allows you to transfer, print, or share photos straight from the camera.Slide4

Displays images on a screen immediately after they are recorded.Stores thousands of images on a single small memory device.Deletes images to free storage space.

Most usually charged by batteries.
